Jintong Paper (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. has successfully started up its PM6 production line, a key component of the company’s specialty paper expansion project in the Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone.
The PM6 line is designed to produce 120,000 tonnes of single-sided coated paper, commonly used as thermal base paper, annually. According to the company, the machine features technology that ranks among the leading specialty paper machines in China, with a maximum operating speed exceeding 1,200 metres per minute.
The production line forms part of Jintong Paper’s 280,000-tonne specialty paper project, which has a total investment of 2.15 billion yuan and has been designated as a major provincial project in Jiangsu for 2025. The project is being developed in phases. Phase I includes the new PM6 line and annual capacity of 120,000 tonnes of thermal base paper, while Phase II is planned to add 160,000 tonnes of multifunctional environmentally friendly base paper capacity.
The commissioning of PM6 marks the formal transition of Phase I into production. The company said the project team accelerated construction and commissioning activities through detailed planning, optimized construction processes and coordination with technical specialists. As a result, the project was completed nearly two months ahead of its original schedule.
According to Su Hua, Director of Jintong Paper’s New Project Construction Department, the company worked closely with domestic and international technical teams during equipment installation and commissioning to support the early start-up of the machine.
Local authorities in the Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone established a dedicated service team to support the project through approval, construction, equipment installation and final acceptance stages. The zone said regular coordination mechanisms helped address bottlenecks throughout the construction process.
Since entering operation, Jintong Paper’s technical and production teams have focused on optimizing machine performance and process parameters. The company reported that the line has already achieved its design technical indicators and trial production targets.
At full operating capacity, the PM6 line can produce nearly 700,000 sheets of thermal base paper, equivalent in size to express delivery slips, per minute. Jintong Paper expects the project to generate more than 500 million yuan in annual revenue and help address market demand in the specialty paper sector.
