KAMA cardboard and paper mill, part of the Sveza forestry group, has developed a portfolio of five coated cardboard grades within five years of launching production, now supplying more than half of domestic demand in this segment.

The company produced its first roll of import-substituting coated cardboard in April 2021. Since then, it has expanded its product range to include board densities from 170 to 380 g/m², targeting a wide spectrum of packaging applications, from basic uses to high-quality print packaging.

KAMA remains the only producer of coated folding boxboard (FBB) in Russia. Total output since launch has exceeded 1 million tons, contributing to the replacement of imported materials and supporting the development of the domestic high-quality packaging segment. The company’s products are supplied across Russia and exported to CIS countries, serving food, pharmaceutical, and printing industries.

Investment in the coated cardboard production line has surpassed 2.5 billion rubles. The funds have been allocated to improving process efficiency, increasing equipment reliability, expanding the product range, and enhancing product quality.

According to Roman Seravin, Executive Director of the KAMA Cardboard Plant, the company is entering a new phase of development. Plans include expanding the bleached chemithermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) facility to a capacity of 500 tons per day and increasing the productivity of Board Machine No. 9 by 13% from its design capacity of 220,000 tons annually.

The company is also working to further broaden its product portfolio and improve product characteristics, including environmental performance and raw material requirements.
