The KAMA cardboard and paper mill, part of the Sveza forestry group, has produced its first commercial batch of Ural Bright Label, a semi-moisture-resistant label paper. The new product is intended for label manufacturers and expands the company's line of specialized papers .
The launch of industrial production was preceded by testing the new paper and refining its characteristics in collaboration with customers. The first industrial batch was purchased by a printing house specializing in label production. Today, KAMA is developing a line of specialized papers, including grades for medical instructions in 45 and 55 g/m², as well as Ural Bright Label .
The decision to expand the specialized product line is driven by changing market demand patterns. Growth in the label segment is supported by the development of the food industry, private labels, and local brands. Furthermore, pricing in rubles, independence from sanctions, and shorter delivery times give Ural Bright Label an advantage over its foreign counterparts.
"We see a steady demand for specialized paper types and are consistently expanding our product range, focusing on customer needs. The development of Ural Bright Label is one example of this approach. While classic book, magazine, and offset papers remain the core of our portfolio, this segment is currently under significant pressure. Digitalization is reducing demand for printing, demographic changes are affecting the notebook sector, and excess capacity is intensifying competition," noted Igor Drozdov , Head of Paper Sales at KBK KAMA.
Compared to single-sided coated label paper released in the summer of 2025, the production batch of Ural Bright Label boasts improved strength characteristics and increased resistance to condensation. These properties were achieved through refinement of the paper's physical and mechanical properties following testing with customers.
KAMA plans to use the resulting technical solutions in the development of new specialized products. The company also plans to expand its product range of grammages. In addition to 80 g/m², 90 g/m² label paper will be launched by the end of 2026.
