Karnaphuli Paper Mill has resumed production following a four day shutdown that disrupted output and raised concerns among workers and local stakeholders. Operations were halted due to reported technical and operational issues, which management has now addressed sufficiently to restart key production lines. The resumption is expected to gradually restore supplies of cultural and writing paper to the domestic market, easing short term supply tightness for printers, publishers and packaging converters. Management has reportedly implemented corrective maintenance and operational adjustments to stabilise production and reduce the risk of similar unplanned stoppages in the near future. The restart also brings relief for employees and nearby businesses that depend on the mill’s continuous running for income and economic activity in the region.
