Kemira Oyj, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, completed the acquisition of AquaBlue, Inc., a privately-owned Ohio-based company specializing in wastewater and industrial water treatment services. The transaction, valued at under USD 10 million, supports Kemira's expansion in North America's faster-growing industrial water treatment market. AquaBlue serves customers in food & beverage, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors, with expected 2025 revenue of about USD 9 million and eight employees.
"This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver more value to customers by combining AquaBlue’s service expertise with Kemira’s technologies," stated Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, EVP, Water Solutions. The move builds on Kemira's recent purchase of Water Engineering, Inc., establishing a platform for organic and inorganic growth in the region. AquaBlue will integrate into Kemira’s Water Solutions unit while operating from its current Ohio location. Kemira reported 2024 revenue of EUR 2.9 billion with approximately 4,700 global employees and focuses on water treatment, fiber, and renewable solutions.
