Kleannara said it will expand exports of Clay Coated Kraft Board (CCKB), a high-value eco-friendly paperboard, to South Africa as demand grows for sustainable packaging materials.
The company is increasing CCKB shipments to the South African market and strengthening local sales efforts to secure new customers. Demand for paperboard containing recycled inputs has been rising in global markets as packaging producers face greater environmental requirements.
CCKB provides greater strength, water resistance and print quality than conventional paperboard. The material is widely used in premium packaging, including packaging for home meal replacement products and household goods.
Kleannara said global sustainability requirements are also supporting its export strategy. In the European Union, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which tightens requirements for packaging recyclability and material circularity, took effect last month. The company said global customers are increasingly seeking packaging materials that incorporate recycled inputs and meet environmental standards.
Kleannara has expanded its overseas operations in recent years, including the opening of a branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2022. Building on its export experience and overseas sales network, the company plans to pursue customers in Europe and major Southeast Asian markets, in addition to South Africa, with the aim of establishing long-term supply contracts.
“As global markets demand packaging that combines environmental performance with functionality, opportunities to expand CCKB overseas are growing as well,” a Kleannara official said. “We will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of our high-value paperboard products in line with changes in the global environment and customer needs.”
