The Koehler Group, a leading specialty paper and renewable energy producer, acquires all shares of Kehl-based logistics firm Klumpp + Müller via newly formed Koehler Logistics GmbH. This move deepens a 65-year partnership, ensuring reliable pulp supply from South America, Iberian Peninsula, and Scandinavia to Koehler Paper mills in Oberkirch and Kehl. Klumpp + Müller, founded in 1953, provides trimodal transport—rail, road, inland waterways—handling 500,000 metric tons via water, 150,000 by rail, and 100,000 LCL shipments annually, plus 20,000 pallet warehouse spaces.
Koehler Group CEO Kai Furler emphasizes long-term supply chain reliability as a competitive edge, with no planned job cuts or customer disruptions. Both family businesses share generational values; the deal awaits antitrust approval and positions logistics as a new strategic pillar alongside paper and renewables. Koehler operates five German sites, three in the USA, with 2,500 employees, €1.1 billion revenue, and 70% export ratio.
