Major Chinese Paper Producers Announce Unified Price Increase for Specialty Paper Products Amid Rising Costs

China’s specialty paper sector is experiencing a new wave of price adjustments, as leading manufacturers jointly announced a significant increase of RMB 500 per ton across key product categories in response to sustained cost pressures.

Industry leaders including Sun Paper, Wuzhou Special Paper, and Xianhe Co., Ltd. issued coordinated price adjustment notices effective March 21, 2026. The increase applies broadly to specialty paper segments such as digital printing paper and inkjet heat transfer base paper.

The companies cited continued increases in raw material costs and overall operating expenses as the primary drivers behind the price hikes. Sun Paper and Wuzhou Special Paper confirmed that prices for all digital paper products will rise by RMB 500 per ton.

On the same day, Xianhe Co., Ltd. announced a similar increase of RMB 500 per ton across its inkjet heat transfer base paper product lines. This follows a prior price adjustment earlier in March, marking the company’s second price increase within a short period.

The synchronized timing and uniform pricing adjustments across multiple leading players highlight a coordinated industry response to ongoing cost pressures, signaling broader trends within China’s specialty paper market.

"This round of price adjustments reflects the sector’s need to balance rising input costs while maintaining product quality and supply stability," an industry source noted.

The latest increases are expected to impact downstream industries reliant on specialty paper products, including printing, packaging, and textile applications, potentially contributing to broader pricing adjustments across the value chain.
