Metsä Board Oyj has completed change negotiations in all its operating countries, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and competitiveness amid challenging market conditions. The negotiations, covering production, sales, and support functions, involved approximately 2,500 employees globally and concluded without immediate layoffs or major operational changes. Outcomes include organizational adjustments, such as merging sales teams and centralizing support roles, alongside measures like reduced working hours and voluntary arrangements where applicable. In Finland, the talks affected over 1,800 personnel across mills and offices; similar processes in Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, UK, Poland, USA, and other regions yielded tailored solutions without plant closures.
