Cleveland, Ohio-based Millcraft Paper Company announced an agreement to acquire Steen-Macek Paper, a family-owned independent paper merchant based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The transaction is slated to close on February 28, 2026.
This partnership goes beyond a simple ownership shift for customers. It promises sustained investment in greater capabilities, expanded inventory, and superior service levels, all while maintaining the personnel, relationships, and core values that have characterized Steen-Macek Paper across generations.
Established in 1934, Steen-Macek Paper has earned acclaim through reliable partnerships, quick response times, and extensive product knowledge. From its Green Bay headquarters, it has served printers, designers, agencies, and companies throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan with high-quality paper and specialized offerings. The firm's emphasis on people and service excellence has cemented its status as "the people in the paper business."
Millcraft, originating in 1920, offers over a century of reliability, scale, and sector prominence as a fourth-generation family enterprise. The deal embodies a mutual conviction that enduring growth stems from forward-looking strategies, personnel development, and aiding clients in navigating a changing market more effectively.
The unified Millcraft and Steen-Macek Paper entity delivers an enhanced platform for clientele. It provides wider inventory and diverse products spanning paper, packaging, wide format substrates, sign and banner materials, apparel decoration tools like direct-to-film, direct-to-garment, and dye sublimation systems, inkjet machinery, facility supplies, and additional items. Access to a comprehensive technical service team will further bolster equipment and technology support. Millcraft also introduces sophisticated operational and digital systems to boost efficiency, automation, stock transparency, and procurement processes. Customers gain a financially robust, committed partner focused on ongoing investments in products, staff, and facilities.
Crucially, Steen-Macek clients retain their familiar local teams, now backed by an expansive organization's resources and scope.
"Steen-Macek Paper has gained customer loyalty by prioritizing people and providing outstanding service consistently," noted Travis Mlakar, Millcraft's Chief Executive Officer. "This matches Millcraft's century-plus operational ethos. Our collaboration introduces wider capabilities, richer stock, superior e-commerce and technical systems, and cutting-edge resources to the region, all while safeguarding the valued relationships and culture."
Marking Millcraft's 10th acquisition over the last 15 years, this move underscores its dedication to print industry support, employee investment for stability and advancement, and preservation of long-standing business heritages to ensure their future prosperity.
"Customer and employee care remains central to Steen-Macek Paper," stated Rachel Ramaker, Vice President of Steen-Macek Paper. General Manager Phil Milazzo added that "joining forces with Millcraft lets us sustain our customer and staff priorities alongside a partner that honors our legacy, upholds our principles, and supplies extra resources to serve clients long-term."
