Reasons for the Award and Company Initiatives
FSC Japan marks its 20th anniversary this year, having been established in 2006. Mitsubishi Paper Mills was recognized for identifying the value of forest certification systems at an early stage and for its long-standing contribution to maintaining, promoting, and expanding certification programs. The company was honored as a pioneering organization in the field.
The company has focused on promoting responsible forest management based on international forest certification systems and on developing certified manufacturing and supply chains.
More recently, the company’s household paper brand, Nacré, received the 2026 Social Products Award for its use of FSC-certified materials and pulp made entirely from domestically sourced Japanese timber. The product was recognized as a regional resource-circulation model, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
Mitsubishi Paper Mills stated that it will continue supporting the sustainable management of forest resources and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the development of products that balance environmental responsibility with product quality and performance.
