Kwidzyn, Poland — MM Board & Paper has reached a significant milestone in its ongoing modernization program at the MM Kwidzyn mill, as the facility’s new continuous digester successfully completed its pressure test.
The pressure test represents a critical stage in the installation of the new digester, which forms part of a major investment aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing the mill’s carbon footprint. Once operational in the fourth quarter of 2026, the state-of-the-art system will play a key role in enhancing the mill’s sustainability performance.
The new continuous digester is designed to reutilize residual heat from the production process, significantly reducing overall energy consumption. By improving process efficiency and optimizing energy use, the project is expected to contribute to lower CO₂ emissions while strengthening the operational performance of the Kwidzyn mill.
In addition to its technical advancements, the project has also brought together the mill community. Through an internal naming contest, employees selected the name “Maria” for the new digester, reflecting a shared sense of pride and engagement in the modernization initiative.
Company representatives highlighted the milestone as an important step forward in the project’s progress and acknowledged the efforts of the teams involved in reaching this stage.
MM Board & Paper expressed appreciation to all employees, engineers, and partners who contributed to the successful completion of the pressure test and continue to support the project as it advances toward full commissioning in 2026.
