Mondi and Polana Bikes unveil reusable paper-based bike packaging with ProtectorBAG system

Mondi has partnered with premium bicycle producer Polana Bikes to create an innovative, paper-based packaging system that protects high-end bikes while elevating sustainability and the unboxing experience. The solution combines a durable corrugated outer box with tailored paper inserts and Mondi’s ProtectorBAG, a pre‑made paper bag that shields frames, handlebars, wheels and saddles from scratches, punctures and dust during transport and storage. As part of Mondi’s re/cycle portfolio, ProtectorBAG can be recycled via standard paper waste streams across Europe, helping to cut plastic foils, foam and zip ties from the packaging mix. Developed through Mondi’s ThinkBox co‑creation methodology with Polana’s production team, the pack is intuitive to assemble, improves line ergonomics, enables box reuse via recycled‑plastic locks and delivers a “wow” unboxing moment that has already generated positive customer feedback and unboxing videos.​
