Mondi has successfully brought its state-of-the-art recycled containerboard paper machine online at its Duino mill in Italy, with full-line supplier Voith delivering a comprehensive scope from stock preparation to winder section, including service agreements and clothing packages. Once fully ramped up, the machine will produce 420,000 tons annually of high-quality recycled containerboard, including waste-based fluting from 80 gsm, testliner from 90 gsm, and wide reels up to 3.35 meters on Mondi’s widest recycled paper machine. Voith’s BlueLine stock preparation system, featuring an IntensaPulper with TwinPulp detrashing and InfiltraDisc filtration, ensures high fiber yield, consistent quality and low energy use, while the XcelLine rebuild incorporates a MasterJet Pro headbox, DuoFormer CBv former, DuoCentri NipcoFlex press, SpeedSizer AT and MasterReel for optimal efficiency. Additional OnControl automation, OnQuality QCS and OnView systems stabilize production and enhance quality control, with rebuilt VariTop winders boosting line productivity. Mondi COO Klaus Peller praised the smooth, trusting collaboration that minimized interfaces and enabled on-schedule commissioning, while Voith’s Martin Jauch highlighted the project’s confirmation of their industry leadership and ongoing partnership.
