Mondi Świecie Mill Powers Ahead with New 51 MW Renewable Turbogenerator, Boosts Sustainability and Efficiency

Mondi Świecie’s containerboard mill has launched a cutting-edge steam turbogenerator weighing 55 tons, delivering an impressive 51 MW of energy—enough to sustainably power a city of 90,000 people. This new addition enables the Polish mill to achieve 95% energy self-sufficiency using 100% renewable sources, aligning with Mondi’s robust sustainability strategy and MAP 2030 commitments. The turbine supports uninterrupted, high-quality containerboard production, helping customers meet their own sustainability targets. The initiative follows a €95 million investment for modernizing the site and upgrading machinery, reflecting Mondi’s focus on efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible operations. Thanks to the dedicated engineering and contractor teams, the installation was completed safely, with zero accidents, setting a new benchmark for industry best practices in green energy and packaging production
