Moorim P&P, Korea's sole integrated pulp and paper producer, is collaborating with startups K-Labs, Craft Solution, and the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials through a public-private open innovation program to elevate pulp mold precision manufacturing. Launched via the Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, this initiative from June 2025 to June 2027 addresses rising demands for high-value pulp molds in tableware, cosmetics, and electronics packaging, evolving beyond basic egg trays. Director Shin Dong-jun highlighted pulp's untapped potential amid tightening global environmental regulations.

The partnership develops 3D printing-based hybrid molds to overcome aluminum mold limitations, enhances post-processing for uniform edges and fastening structures like cup lids, and introduces sensor-equipped molds for real-time control of temperature, pressure, and drying. This synergy leverages specialized expertise in 3D printing, precision design, and equipment, reducing costs and risks that solo development couldn't achieve. Moorim P&P anticipates boosted competitiveness in eco-friendly pulp products, fostering startup growth and positioning Korea as a leader in sustainable packaging innovation.
