Mother of Two Brothers Killed in Chemical Tank Implosion Sues Nippon Dynawave

The first lawsuit has been filed over a deadly chemical tank implosion at a Longview paper mill that killed brothers Brad Covington, 27, and Tyler Covington, 29.

The wrongful death lawsuit was filed by the brothers’ mother against Nippon Dynawave following the May 26 incident. According to the lawsuit, the brothers had just arrived in the mill’s parking lot when the chemical tank imploded.

The lawsuit says Brad and Tyler Covington were burned and crushed in the incident and later died from injuries they sustained.

The lawsuit names Nippon Dynawave Packaging Company and Nippon Paper Industries and alleges negligence in several areas. The claims include failures to maintain equipment, properly supervise employees and agents, and properly isolate and/or vent equipment.

The family is seeking an unspecified amount in economic and noneconomic damages, according to the lawsuit.
