Murim P&P welcomed the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee (Tangreen Committee) for a detailed inspection of its new eco-friendly, high-efficiency recovery boiler at the Ulsan plant. This advanced boiler uses biomass black liquor from pulp production as fuel to generate electricity and steam, significantly enhancing renewable energy use and resource circulation. The facility’s improved efficiency is projected to save around 50 billion won annually in EBITDA and enable surplus energy sales, adding economic benefits alongside sustainability. Murim P&P leads low-carbon practices, having achieved annual fossil fuel substitution equivalent to 800,000 tons of greenhouse gases, certified by Korea’s Ministry of Environment. CEO Lee Do-kyun emphasized continued commitment to sustainable management by maximizing biomass-based green energy to balance eco-friendliness with economic feasibility. This installation exemplifies best practices in Korea’s drive towards carbon neutrality in the pulp and paper industry.
