On March 25, the Hengzhou Municipal People's Government website published the draft environmental impact assessment for the Nanning Sun Paper Industry's integrated forestry, pulp and paper quality improvement and efficiency enhancement technology upgrade project, officially launching the new project at Sun Paper Industry's Nanning base.
Project Name: Nanning Sun Paper Industry Integrated Pulp and Paper Quality Improvement and Efficiency Enhancement Technological Transformation Project
Project Type: Expansion
Construction location: Southeast side of the intersection of Jingyi Road and Weishi Road, Liujing Industrial Park, Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Construction Unit: Nanning Sun Paper Industry Co., Ltd.
Main construction scale and contents: renovation and expansion of a 500,000-ton-per-year unbleached chemical wood pulp production line, a 600,000-ton-per-year specialty paper production line, and supporting alkali recovery system (including alkali recovery furnace and white mud recovery kiln), substation and other production auxiliary facilities. Thermal power, water supply, sewage treatment and other infrastructure that have been built or approved for construction within the existing plant area of Nanning Sun Paper Industry Co., Ltd.
Existing Project and its Environmental Protection Status: The existing project is an integrated pulp and paper technology upgrade and supporting industrial park project, which was approved by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in September 2023 (Gui Huan Shen (2023) No. 376). The construction content includes: Phase I project includes an annual production line of 150,000 tons of bleached chemical hardwood pulp, an annual production line of 200,000 tons of cultural paper, an annual production line of 500,000 tons of unbleached chemical wood pulp, an annual production line of 1 million tons of high-grade packaging paper, as well as an OCC pulping line, an alkali recovery system (including supporting alkali recovery furnace and white mud recovery kiln), and a waste heat workshop (solid waste biomass boiler and The first phase of the project includes supporting facilities such as waste heat power generation units, substations, water supply facilities, and sewage treatment facilities; the second phase of the project includes a production line with an annual output of 300,000 tons of unbleached chemical wood pulp, a production line with an annual output of 350,000 tons of bleached chemical wood pulp, a production line with an annual output of 150,000 tons of mechanical wood pulp; a production line with an annual output of 1 million tons of high-grade packaging paper, a production line with an annual output of 400,000 tons of specialty paper, a production line with an annual output of 600,000 tons of plastic substitute paper, as well as OCC pulping lines, alkali recovery systems (including supporting alkali recovery furnaces and white mud recovery kilns), chlorine dioxide preparation systems, waste heat workshops (waste heat power generation units), water supply facilities, and sewage treatment facilities.
Currently, the first phase of the project has been completed and environmental protection acceptance has been completed. In the second phase, except for the 300,000-ton-per-year unbleached chemical wood pulp production line and the 600,000-ton-per-year plastic paper production line which have been adjusted to this quality improvement and efficiency enhancement technology upgrade project for renovation and expansion, all other production lines have been constructed and environmental protection acceptance has been completed.
