Nicklin Transit Packaging has acquired Geddes Packaging, strengthening its position in the UK timber, cardboard and corrugated packaging sector and expanding its manufacturing capabilities across the Midlands and beyond.
Under the agreement, Aldridge-based Geddes Packaging, which employs around 40 people, will join The Nicklin Group of Companies. The transaction is expected to create a larger independent packaging business with increased production capacity, broader technical expertise and an expanded customer base.
Geddes Packaging has a long-established presence in the timber and corrugated packaging market. Nicklin said the acquisition complements its existing operations and supports its strategy of growing services for customers while maintaining its independent ownership structure.
David Nicklin, managing director of Nicklin Transit Packaging, said the acquisition represents an important stage in the company’s development. He noted that both businesses share similar values focused on quality, reliability and customer service, making the combination a strong strategic fit.
The acquisition is expected to increase Nicklin’s market share in the timber and corrugated packaging sectors while adding manufacturing and sales expertise to the group. Customers of Geddes Packaging will gain access to a wider range of products and services as well as a larger operational platform. The combined business also plans to continue its focus on health and safety, quality, sustainability and customer support.
The deal forms part of Nicklin Transit Packaging’s broader growth strategy. The company, a fourth-generation family-owned business based in Wednesbury, has continued to invest in expansion and operational development in recent years. According to the company, the acquisition is intended to create a stronger and more sustainable business while providing long-term opportunities for employees and customers.
