Nine Dragons Paper has announced scheduled downtime at its Quanzhou production base in May, as part of planned maintenance and production management measures, according to a customer notice issued by the company.
The shutdown will affect paper machine PM47, which produces linerboard, and is scheduled to run from May 16 to May 31, totaling 16 days. The company stated that the maintenance aligns with its 2026 equipment inspection plan and is intended to improve product quality and ensure stable operations.
Nine Dragons Paper said it aims to minimize the impact of the downtime on customers by making advance arrangements. The notice acknowledged potential inconvenience and expressed appreciation for customer support.
The planned shutdown comes amid a broader wave of price increases across China’s packaging paper sector. Nine Dragons and other producers have recently raised prices by around 50 yuan per ton across multiple grades, citing efforts to stabilize pricing in a weak market environment.
The combination of supply-side controls, including both price adjustments and scheduled maintenance outages, reflects ongoing efforts by paper mills to manage production levels and support market conditions. However, the effectiveness of these measures will depend on downstream demand recovery, particularly in the packaging sector.
