Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. announced that it will implement price increases of more than 15% for all white paperboards, cup base paper, processed base paper, and packaging paper products, effective for shipments from July 21, 2026.
The company said the price revision will apply across its entire range of white paperboards, cup base paper, processed base paper, and packaging paper grades. The increase is intended to address rising production costs linked to raw material and fuel procurement.
According to Nippon Paper, escalating tensions in the Middle East have significantly affected the procurement environment for materials essential to paper production. The company said it has prioritized stable supply by securing necessary raw materials, reviewing production plans, adjusting inventories, and maintaining production and shipments wherever possible.
However, the company noted that multiple suppliers of raw materials and fuels have already implemented price increases due to higher costs, including rising naphtha prices. Nippon Paper said continued uncertainty surrounding the Middle East is expected to create further volatility in procurement conditions.
The company stated that while it is making every effort to secure raw materials and maintain a stable supply of paper products, it has determined that cost increases can no longer be absorbed through internal measures alone. The price revision was therefore deemed necessary to support business continuity and ensure stable product supply.
