German corrugated packaging and display producer Casimir Kast Verpackungen & Display, based in Gernsbach, has secured its future through a going-concern asset deal following insolvency proceedings opened on December 1. Insolvency administrator Dr. Dirk Pehl from Schultze & Braun confirmed that Christian Oetker-Kast will acquire the company’s business operations effective January 1, 2026, ensuring continuity for core manufacturing activities. The restructuring, however, requires workforce reductions, with 31 positions eliminated across administration and production under a negotiated agreement of interests that includes a social plan to support affected employees. This resolution comes amid a challenging environment for European packaging firms, as seen in recent insolvencies like pod GmbH and earlier filings by Casimir Kast itself while seeking investors. The deal highlights ongoing consolidation pressures in the corrugated sector, balancing operational survival with necessary cost efficiencies to maintain competitiveness in display and packaging markets.
