New Delhi, 1st August 2026: The Indian paper fraternity came together under one roof at the iconic Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, to celebrate "Paper Day", marking a historic occasion that showcased the unity, strength, and shared vision of the country's paper industry. The event was organized as an initiative of the Federation of Paper Traders' Associations of India (FPTA) under the leadership of Shri P. Rajesh Jain, President, FPTA, and Shri Dalip Bindal, Paper Day Convenor.

The grand celebration brought together representatives from across the paper value chain, reaffirming the industry's collective commitment towards sustainability, responsible manufacturing, recycling, and promoting paper as the environmentally responsible alternative to plastic.

Distinguished Dignitaries Grace the Occasion

The event was honoured by the presence of Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, as the Chief Guest.

The Guests of Honour included:

  • Shri Harshpati Singhania, Chairman, JK Paper Ltd.

  • Shri Rajesh Verma, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Khagaria, Bihar.

Their presence underscored the growing importance of the paper sector in India's journey towards sustainable development and a greener future.

Entire Paper Industry Stands United

Paper Day witnessed unprecedented participation and support from all the apex organizations representing the Indian paper industry, including:

  • Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA)

  • Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association (IARPMA)

  • Indian Newsprint Manufacturers Association (INMA)

  • Indian Pulp & Paper Technical Association (IPPTA)

  • Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers of India (FCBM)

  • All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP)

The Presidents of the affiliated associations were also present, including:

  • Shri Pawan Agarwal

  • Shri Pramod Agarwal

  • Shri Ankkit Agarwal

  • Shri C. Ravinder Reddy

The occasion was further strengthened by the presence of former Presidents of FPTA, Shri Shyamji Kariya, Convener – Industry Affairs, members of the Paper Merchants Association Delhi, and a large gathering of paper traders, manufacturers, converters, printers, and other stakeholders from across the country.

Inspiring Industry Leadership

One of the major highlights of Paper Day was a series of insightful addresses by eminent industry leaders.

Shri A.S. Mehta, Dr. B.P. Thapliyal, and Shri Ved Krishna shared their perspectives on:

  • Sustainability and environmental responsibility

  • Recycling and circular economy

  • Innovation in the paper sector

  • The future roadmap for the Indian paper industry

Their addresses emphasized the need for continuous innovation, collaboration, and greater public awareness about the environmental advantages of paper.

Shri Harshpati Singhania Highlights Sustainability Vision

In his keynote address, Shri Harshpati Singhania, Chairman, JK Paper Ltd., emphasized that the entire paper industry must work together towards:

  • Sustainable forestry

  • Responsible manufacturing practices

  • Promotion of paper as the green alternative to plastic

  • Environmental conservation through innovation

He also highlighted JK Paper's continued commitment towards environmental stewardship, technological innovation, and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Celebrating Paper Through Creativity

Adding vibrancy to the celebration, the event featured:

  • Launch of the official Paper Day Video

  • A special skit performed by school children

  • A lively musical band performance

The performances beautifully conveyed the indispensable role of paper in education, creativity, communication, and everyday life while inspiring the audience to embrace paper as a sustainable lifestyle choice.

Unified Industry Message

The celebration concluded with a strong and unanimous message from the entire paper fraternity:

"Paper is sustainable, recyclable, biodegradable, and the responsible choice for India's future."

The event reinforced the industry's commitment to promoting paper as an eco-friendly, renewable, and circular product that supports environmental conservation while contributing significantly to India's economy.

Vote of Thanks

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri Raghav Kamal Kothari, Secretary, Federation of Paper Traders' Associations of India (FPTA).

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, distinguished speakers, supporting industry associations, participating organizations, members of the paper fraternity, school children, and the Bharat Mandapam team for their wholehearted support in making Paper Day a grand success.

Concluding his address, Shri Kothari remarked:
