Perlen Industrieholding AG advances its strategic shift from traditional paper production to a diversified industrial company through product innovation, fibre casting entry, and site development. Following 2025 cost optimizations and restructuring at Perlen Papier AG, the group strengthens its graphic paper core while expanding into new areas. New recyclable specialty papers for flexible packaging, including food and labeling with integrated barriers, target growth markets using existing machines.
Perlen Papier AG enters fibre-based packaging as a plastic alternative for trays, packaging, and bottles via fibre casting technology. Leveraging its fibre infrastructure and expertise, initial products are in testing. Site development includes a 10 MW/20 MWh battery storage facility with Wattss, set for end-2026 commissioning, plus conceptual plans for energy projects and data centers.
Dr. Florian Geiger, CEO, stated: “The past few months have been marked by difficult but necessary decisions to improve competitiveness in our core market of graphic papers, where we continue to expect a challenging market environment. At the same time, we have been able to set the course for strategic realignment thanks to the great commitment and innovative spirit of our employees and the support of our long-term anchor shareholder. These milestones enable us to further improve our competitiveness, but we also know that we are only at the beginning of the transformation process.”
