Perm Pulp and Paper Company (PCBK) has completed scheduled maintenance at its Cardboard and Paper Production Department No. 1, carrying out a series of equipment upgrades aimed at improving operational reliability and maintaining product quality.
During the planned shutdown, the company's maintenance team completed several key tasks on PM-2, including the replacement of the size press rollers. According to the company, the upper roller was replaced using a pre-prepared spare unit, while the lower roller was refurbished using the company's in-house grinding machine, which was modernized in 2025.
The company said the refurbished roller met the required specifications, including a crown geometry of +0.25 mm and a surface roughness of 0.1.
As part of the maintenance program, Perm Pulp and Paper Company also measured press roll pressure on PM-2 using a sensor-equipped measuring system that recorded the pressing force in kilonewtons and displayed the data in real time.
According to the company, the measurement results will be used to optimize press roll settings, helping to improve machine performance.
Perm Pulp and Paper Company said more precise roll adjustments are expected to extend roller service life, reduce steam consumption in the drying section of the paper machine, and improve the overall operating efficiency of PM-2.
