Pixelle Specialty Solutions is investing in its No. 8 paper machine, one of the largest and most critical assets at its manufacturing facility, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve production performance and product quality.
The mill produces an average of approximately 900 tons of paper per day across its four paper machines, with output varying based on the product grade mix. The No. 8 paper machine plays a significant role in supporting this production capacity.
Originally rebuilt in 1965, Paper Machine 8 is undergoing upgrades that include the installation of a new press section and a new steam box. These improvements are expected to significantly enhance product quality by improving moisture profiles, a key factor in the papermaking process.
The investment is also expected to improve the quality of the base stock supplied to the company's coating operations while increasing the machine's overall throughput.
According to the company, the investment demonstrates its long-term commitment to the facility and its workforce. Pixelle Specialty Solutions said the project reflects its focus on providing long-term career opportunities for current employees and future manufacturing professionals, while reinforcing the company's commitment to continued growth and operational success.
