Portocel, a port terminal located in Aracruz, Espírito Santo, and jointly controlled by Suzano and Cenibra, reported its highest-ever cargo throughput in 2025, handling a total of 7.8 million tons and surpassing the previous year’s record.
The company posted net revenue of R$ 287.5 million for the year, marking a 16% increase compared to 2024, while net profit remained stable at R$ 60.2 million. Investments more than doubled, reaching R$ 23.9 million.
According to CEO Alexandre Mori, the results reflect a strategic plan launched between 2018 and 2019 focused on maintaining operational excellence with existing clients and diversifying cargo. He noted that while pulp production volumes are not expected to grow significantly in the near term, cargo diversification is driving expansion.
This approach has begun to deliver results. Portocel’s vehicle import operations, launched in 2024, handled 25,000 units in 2025. In early 2026, volumes have already matched the full-year total from the previous year. The terminal has also expanded its handling of natural stones, fertilizers, coffee, and steel products, reducing reliance on pulp cargo.
Since 2022, Portocel has consistently improved its operational and financial performance, surpassing records set in prior years. In 2024, the company expanded its footprint by initiating pulp handling operations at the Port of Santos, Latin America’s largest port complex.
Looking ahead, Mori stated that Portocel aims to double in size over the next decade. The strategy includes further cargo diversification in Aracruz and geographic expansion to other Brazilian regions with pulp operations.
The growth outlook is supported by regional logistics infrastructure, including highway and rail connections, as well as development incentives from the Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (SUDENE). By 2035, Portocel expects to operate as a more diversified logistics company with a broader presence along Brazil’s coastline.
