Luxury packaging manufacturer Pusterla 1880 has expanded its production network in North Africa with the opening of a second facility in Tunisia, supported by an initial £4 million investment and plans for a further £3 million in future expansion.

The new site, operating as Pusterla 1880 Tunisie, is located in Sousse near Monastir and covers 10,000 square metres. The facility combines automated production technologies with manual assembly operations to manufacture a range of luxury packaging products, including rectangular and round boxes, specialist packs and advent calendars.

According to the company, the investment strengthens its ability to support international beauty, fragrance, premium drinks and jewellery brands with luxury secondary packaging solutions. The factory also enhances Pusterla 1880’s end-to-end service offering, covering concept development, design, manufacturing and co-packing.

The new operation employs 260 people. Combined with the company’s existing Tunisian facility, Pusterla 1880’s workforce in the country now totals around 600 employees.

“Tunisia has increasingly established itself as a major industrial player with a skilled workforce and strong connections with Europe,” said Nathan Fage, Business Development Manager at Pusterla 1880 UK. “For this reason, the country is an important part of our Proximity Strategy, which aims to ensure we remain close to our customers not just geographically but also in terms of service quality and flexibility for effective project development.”

The facility is intended to complement support provided to UK customers through Pusterla 1880’s Dover operation, alongside the company’s wider international manufacturing network.

The official opening ceremony was attended by local and international representatives, including Andrea Prunas, Italy’s Ambassador to Tunisia, and Mourad Fradi, President of the Tunisian Chamber of Commerce. Their participation underscored the significance of the investment for regional industrial development and economic cooperation between Tunisia and Europe.

Fage said the new factory would enhance the company’s ability to align manufacturing capabilities with customer requirements while maintaining the quality standards expected by luxury brands.
