Saica Group launched the first recycled paper adhesive tape on the market, developed jointly by Saica Flex and Saica Paper. The tape uses 100% recycled fibers produced within the Group, creating a fully circular process where Saica Paper manufactures the recycled paper, Saica Flex converts it into tape, and it protects Saica Paper's own paper reels.

The self-adhesive, linerless tape adheres firmly to paper and cardboard, supports efficient unwinding and overlapping, and works with standard reel-wrapping machines without requiring equipment changes. It ensures secure protection throughout the product's life while being fully repulpable, replacing non-repulpable alternatives.

After extensive R&D testing, the tape balances technical performance and recyclability, advancing Saica Flex's strategic focus on flexible paper solutions. Implementation began at Saica Paper's El Burgo de Ebro facility in Spain and will expand across European paper production lines.

Federico Asensio, Technology & Innovation Director at Saica Group, stated this innovation for reel protection marks the first step, with research continuing for broader applications to enhance sustainability across the portfolio.
