Sappi achieved a prestigious Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 'A' score for Forests in 2025, ranking among the top performers out of nearly 20,000 companies assessed worldwide. This recognition highlights Sappi's leadership in sustainable forestry management, including oversight of its own landholdings in South Africa, partnerships with small local landowners, and full chain-of-custody certifications across all pulp and paper operations. These efforts support the company's 2030 ambitions for deforestation-free supply chains and environmental resilience.

Sappi's climate strategy emphasizes boosting renewable energy adoption, enhancing energy efficiency, deploying low-carbon technologies, and embedding carbon factors into investment decisions. On water stewardship, the company works to cut freshwater use, maximize recycling and reuse in facilities, and elevate effluent quality before discharge. CDP 2025 scores also show progress with an A- in Climate Change and B in Water Security.

Placement on the CDP Forests A List underscores Sappi's integrated sustainability approach amid global demands for transparency. The full 2025 A List, covering top 4% of scored firms from over 22,100 disclosures, appears on CDP's site. Sappi maintains ongoing measurement against targets via EcoVadis Platinum ratings in Europe and North America, plus Gold in South Africa.
