SCA's NorrPlant seedling operation delivered a total of 93.2 million seedlings in 2025. Over 49 million went to forest owners across Sweden, with the rest planted in SCA's own forests. This volume was slightly lower than previous years.

Thomas Vestman, nursery manager, explained that deliveries were impacted by fewer contorta pine seedlings than planned and weather conditions. The spring was cold, delaying planting, while July's high temperatures led many to postpone. Deliveries to private forest owners held strong at 49.2 million seedlings. Of the total, 55.8 million were pine and 27.5 million spruce.

SCA delivered 3.6 million frozen seedlings in corrugated boxes, mostly to forest owners planting themselves. Kent Jonsson, business developer at NorrPlant, noted collaboration with SCA Skog's marketing to streamline deliveries. Frozen seedlings now ship directly to owners' homes via logistics providers, simplifying the process for wood purchasers and owners.

NorrPlant anticipates just under 100 million seedlings for 2026. Orders placed a year ahead mean storm Johannes from December likely won't affect this year but may impact 2027. SCA plans a new web shop for seedlings in spring 2026's first quarter. Planting has started at nurseries in Bogrundet and Wifstamon, with germinated trays in cold storage awaiting greenhouses. Kent Jonsson added that SCA supplies about one in four seedlings planted annually in Sweden's forests, contributing to climate benefits as trees capture CO2 and provide raw materials replacing fossil alternatives.
