Republic of Karelia, Russia – Segezha Group is conducting trials of harvesters and forwarders produced by Amkodor-Onego at its pulp and paper mill in Karelia, as part of efforts to expand the use of domestically manufactured logging equipment.

The testing program was discussed during a working meeting involving Ilya Ivantsov, Kirill Arsenyev, Svetlana Astakhova, and representatives of Amkodor-Onego.

Amkodor-Onego is described as the only forestry machinery manufacturer in Russia with its own component base. Its equipment is currently undergoing operational testing at the Segezha pulp and paper facility to evaluate performance under real production conditions.

Serial production of the machinery became possible following a special investment contract signed in 2019. By 2025, the company had received 230 million rubles in federal subsidies to support development and manufacturing.

Segezha Group said the initiative aligns with broader industry needs to modernize forestry machinery fleets. The company is working closely with the equipment manufacturer to provide operational feedback, which is being incorporated into ongoing design improvements.

Kirill Arsenyev said the collaboration aims to ensure that new equipment meets modern logging requirements, balancing efficient resource utilization with environmental considerations. He added that the company expects domestically produced machinery to compete with foreign alternatives as development progresses.
