Several Injured Following Explosion at International Paper Mill in North Carolina

Several employees sustained minor injuries following an explosion at an International Paper mill in Warren County early Tuesday morning, according to local authorities.

Deputies from the Warren County Sheriff's Office responded to the facility on U.S. Highway 1 in Manson at approximately 4 a.m. The sheriff's office said first responders assisted a few employees who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency personnel from the Ridgeway Fire Department, the North Carolina Hazardous Materials Team, and the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal also responded to the scene.

Authorities have not released details regarding the cause of the explosion. The Office of State Fire Marshal is leading the investigation.

A viewer reported to WRAL News that a boiler may have exploded; however, officials have not confirmed that information.

No additional information about the extent of damage to the facility or the condition of those injured was immediately available.
