The total value of roundwood purchased from private forests in Slovenia increased by 5.5% year-on-year in January, supported by gains across most product categories, according to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia.
Pulpwood recorded the strongest growth, with its purchase value rising 17.1% compared to January of the previous year. The value of sawlogs and veneer logs also increased, up 4.8%, with coniferous logs contributing the largest share of growth within that segment.
Fuel wood purchases posted a more modest increase of 2.6% year-on-year. In contrast, other industrial roundwood was the only category to decline, with its value falling 4.6% compared to the same month last year.
On a month-on-month basis, however, the overall value of roundwood purchases edged down by 0.2% from December levels. Fuel wood experienced the most significant monthly decline, dropping 39.5%, followed by other industrial roundwood, which fell 9.6%. Pulpwood values also decreased slightly, down 1.2% over the same period.
Sawlogs and veneer logs were the only category to record monthly growth, increasing by 1.8% from December.
The data reflects mixed short-term trends in Slovenia’s forestry market, with strong annual growth offset by weaker month-to-month performance in several key segments.
