Södra Decides on a Profit Distribution of SEK 696 Million

At Södra’s Annual General Meeting, a decision was taken to distribute SEK 696 million in profit to Södra’s members. The meeting was marked by strong member engagement, with a focus on the cooperative’s development, long-term competitiveness and the impact of the external environment.
“Södra is a cooperative shaped in the interaction between members, elected representatives and the business. The Annual General Meeting is a central part of this, where we come together to discuss and take decisions that are important for both today’s and tomorrow’s members,” says Magnus Hall, Chair of the Board at Södra.
During the meeting, the Board’s proposal for a profit distribution of SEK 696 million was approved, allocated between timber deliveries and contributed capital. On average, this corresponds to SEK 13,324 per member. The profit distribution means that timber deliveries in 2025 are highly valued, together with members’ previous contributions to the cooperative.
The profit distribution of SEK 696 million consists of:
A distribution linked to timber deliveries amounting to SEK 560 million (rounded), allocated as SEK 190 million (SEK 87/m³fub) for sawlogs, SEK 162 million (SEK 45/m³fub) for pulpwood and SEK 208 million (6%) for other timber deliveries.
A cash dividend (2%) on contributed capital amounting to SEK 137 million (rounded).
33 motions addressed at the meeting
A total of 33 motions from Södra’s members were addressed at the meeting. The motions reflected strong engagement and covered a wide range of topics, from forestry issues and timber business to sustainability, the cooperative’s ways of working and the development of member democracy. Taken together, the motions provided a clear picture of the issues that matter to Södra’s members and served as a barometer of both the democratic dialogue and the cooperative’s long-term direction.
“The motions reflect broad and active engagement among Södra’s members, from issues related to the forest and the business to sustainability and the cooperative’s ways of working. This is a strength for the cooperative and an important part of how we develop Södra together, both here and now and over time,” says Magnus Hall.
A continued challenging external environment
Södra operates in an external environment characterised by uncertainty, rapidly changing market conditions and challenging economic circumstances. This also set the tone for the opening of Södra’s 2026 Annual General Meeting. Throughout the day, through motions and speeches, it became clear that the cooperative’s strategic choices require a combination of short-term decisiveness and long-term priorities that strengthen both the forest holding and the competitiveness of the jointly owned industry.
“When the world around us changes rapidly, new demands are placed on us. For Södra, this is about being competitive throughout the entire value chain. Everything starts in the forest, but for the forest holding to remain strong, we also need an industry that can process the raw material efficiently and create unique value for our customers. This interaction between forest owners and industry is the foundation of Södra, and it is what enables us to continue creating value over time, even in a more challenging market environment,” says Lotta Lyrå, President and CEO of Södra.
