Södra is making changes to Group Senior Management to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow and take the value chain to the next level of competitiveness. The changes, which take effect on 13 October, will strengthen the development of the business areas and Södra’s ability to create long-term value for members.

Södra operates in a rapidly changing world and needs to continuously develop the business and seize new opportunities. To secure the right expertise, focus and execution capability for the work ahead, a number of changes are now being made to Group Senior Management. The changes affect Södra Cell, Södra Wood and Södra Skog.

Changes in three business areas

Within Södra Cell, the management team is being strengthened with additional technical and industrial-strategic specialist expertise. Marcus Åsgärde will take on the role of Head of Strategy and Technology and contribute to work on areas including industrial structure, product mix, investments and transformation of the entire value chain. He will work closely with Catrin Gustavsson, President of Södra Cell, who leads the business area and represents Södra Cell in Group Senior Management.

Peter Karlsson will become President of Södra Wood. He will be tasked with building on the foundation laid through industrial consolidation, commercial development and operational efficiency in order to strengthen Södra’s position as a sawmill player in Götaland.

Kim Gunnarsson, currently Head of Raw Material Supply, will at the same time become Acting President of Södra Skog. The focus going forward is to continue developing advisory services and digital services for an even better member experience.

“We have strong leaders and areas of expertise within Södra, and with the work ahead of us it is about putting together the team in the best possible way. Marcus Åsgärde brings technical and industrial-strategic specialist expertise within Södra Cell, Peter Karlsson brings experience and capacity for change within Södra Wood, and Kim Gunnarsson brings deep forestry knowledge and commercial know-how within Södra Skog. Together, they strengthen our ability to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead,” says Lotta Lyrå, President and CEO of Södra.

The changes take effect on 13 October.
