Softys, the hygiene and personal care subsidiary of Empresas CMPC, has appointed Enrique Ostalé as chairman of its board of directors as the company seeks to strengthen its competitive position and support continued growth across Latin America.
The company said Ostalé will work alongside Gonzalo Darraidou, chief executive officer of Softys, to help guide the business through its next stage of development and reinforce its position in the markets where it operates.
The appointment follows Ostalé’s departure from the chairmanship of the Falabella Group, a role he held since 2023. He was subsequently named vice chairman of Agrosuper and continues to expand his involvement on the boards of major companies in the region.
Since 2024, Ostalé has also served as an independent director of Molibdenos y Metales (Molymet). Over the course of his career, he has held senior leadership positions in multinational companies, gaining experience in corporate management, business development and international expansion.
Bernardo Larraín, chairman of Empresas CMPC, said Ostalé’s experience serving on the boards of regional companies, combined with his leadership background at Walmart in Latin America and internationally, would contribute to Softys’ ongoing development.
Prior to his new role, Ostalé spent nearly 16 years at Walmart, where he held a range of executive leadership positions across Latin America and other markets. He also served on the board of directors of Latam Airlines from 2020 to 2022.
Ostalé said he was pleased to join the company and highlighted the opportunity to contribute to strengthening the leadership position that Softys has built across Latin America in recent years.
Softys operates in eight countries across the region and markets brands including Elite, Confort, Nova, Babysec and Ladysoft. According to the company, the business generates annual sales of approximately US$3.5 billion.
