South American L-BKP Pulp Price for Japan Rises to $655 per Ton

The price of South American bleached hardwood kraft pulp (L-BKP) for January shipments against Japan increased by $20, or 3 percent, from the previous month to $655 per metric ton. L-BKP is widely used for printing paper and other products. This marks the fifth consecutive monthly rise, with the cumulative increase totaling $80, or 14 percent, over this period.​

Prices had declined from spring to summer last year due to concerns over the future of U.S.-China relations. Following that downturn, suppliers gradually raised shipping prices.
