Last Tuesday, the 18th, Suzano officially inaugurated its tissue paper factory in Aracruz. With an investment of R$ 650 million, the unit completes the company's production chain in Espírito Santo – from forest plantations to the final product, such as toilet paper under the Neve®, Mimmo®, and Max Pure® brands – and reinforces the state's role as a strategic hub for the company's consumer goods.

The new tissue factory will have a capacity of 60,000 tons per year, converted into ready-to-sell toilet paper. This investment is part of a R$ 1.17 billion package to be completed in 2025, which includes R$ 520 million for a modern biomass boiler capable of generating up to 120 tons of steam per hour. The equipment brings greater stability to the process, increased efficiency and productivity, and reinforces the sustainability of production, since the steam generated from burning eucalyptus waste – a 100% renewable source – is used in the manufacturing process and converted into energy.

Half of the production will be converted at the Aracruz unit itself, and the remainder sent for conversion at the Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (ES) unit, inaugurated in 2021, which had been supplied with coils produced by Suzano in southern Bahia and Maranhão. With this integration, the company reduces logistics costs and CO₂ emissions and strengthens the supply to the consumer market in the Southeast, also served by the plants in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim and Mogi das Cruzes (SP).

Equipped with Italian technology, the tissue factory incorporates a modern system into the production process, in a sustainable and highly competitive manner. The expectation is to reach full production capacity within six months, according to Luís Bueno, Executive Vice President of Consumer Goods at Suzano.

The executive highlights the operational and environmental gains provided by the unit. “By building a paper mill within a pulp plant, we drastically reduce transportation and energy consumption, taking advantage of all the existing infrastructure, which brings important logistical, economic, and environmental benefits,” Bueno emphasized.

The Aracruz plant is Suzano's seventh consumer goods unit, and its inauguration reinforces the company's commitment and confidence in this market. With it, the company increases its installed capacity in the tissue paper sector to 340,000 tons/year, a segment whose market in Brazil is 1.4 million tons annually.

The investment in the new tissue factory was made possible through the use of ICMS (Value-Added Tax) credits from exports held by Suzano, a measure approved by the Government of the State of Espírito Santo. This initiative demonstrates the strategic role of the state government in stimulating the vertical integration of local industry production, attracting new investments and contributing to strengthening the economy of Espírito Santo.

“The state of Espírito Santo has become a benchmark in several areas, and our fiscal balance has brought security to investors, as in the case of Suzano, which today delivers paper entirely produced in Espírito Santo. It's wonderful to see the private sector investing in Espírito Santo, generating opportunities for the people of Espírito Santo and helping us invest in improving the lives of our population. We are pleased to know that we will have production generating jobs and income for our people,” stated Renato Casagrande, Governor of Espírito Santo.
