Ribas do Rio Pardo, MS, Brazil – March 2026 – Suzano will conduct a scheduled General Shutdown at its pulp mill in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS) between March 22 and April 1, 2026, mobilizing more than 3,300 professionals and 72 service providers to perform essential industrial maintenance and engineering services at the facility.
The shutdown will involve a large workforce supporting maintenance, technical upgrades, and operational improvements at the mill—recognized as the world’s largest single-line pulp production facility. Of the total professionals involved, over 2,100 will work directly in industrial maintenance activities, supported by 58 specialized companies, while approximately 1,200 professionals from 14 companies will carry out engineering-related services.
According to Leonardo Mendonça Pimenta, Director of Industrial Operations at Suzano in Ribas do Rio Pardo, the scheduled shutdown is a key step in maintaining the plant’s long-term operational performance.
“The General Shutdown is a planned maintenance period that allows us to review equipment, implement improvements, and prepare the unit for a new cycle of safe and efficient operation. It is also a moment that mobilizes professionals and companies that contribute to the region’s development,” he said.
Beyond its operational importance, the shutdown is expected to stimulate the local economy. The temporary influx of workers and suppliers will increase demand across sectors such as hospitality, food services, transportation, and local commerce in Ribas do Rio Pardo and surrounding areas.
Service companies supporting the shutdown often recruit local labor, generating additional economic activity in the region. At the same time, professionals arriving from other locations are likely to increase short-term demand for accommodation and services.
The maintenance operation will also involve a wide network of technical, logistical, and support suppliers, many of which operate in the region, strengthening the local production chain.
This will be the second General Shutdown carried out at the Ribas do Rio Pardo unit. The first took place in February 2025, approximately six months after the mill began operations.
Suzano continues to invest in operational excellence, technology, and sustainable production practices as it advances its mission of transforming renewable resources into innovative and sustainable products.
