Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, inaugurated Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited’s (TNPL) 100 tonnes-per-day tissue paper production facility at TNPL Unit-II in Kagitha Nagar, Mondipatti, Tiruchirappalli District.
The inauguration took place during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in Chennai.
Built with an investment of ₹350 crore, the facility marks TNPL’s entry into the tissue paper segment as part of its diversification into value-added paper products.
The new plant is designed to produce tissue paper grades ranging from 13 GSM to 40 GSM. It will primarily use high-quality hardwood pulp produced in-house, according to the company.
TNPL said the facility supports its focus on innovation, value-added manufacturing and sustainable growth.
The company is introducing its tissue paper products under the LUMEA brand, extending its paper manufacturing operations into everyday tissue solutions.
The commissioning of the 100 TPD facility represents a new segment in TNPL’s product portfolio and a further expansion of its manufacturing operations.
