The EU Commission Approves the Acquisition of Thimm by Saica Group

Saica Group is thrilled to announce that the EU Commission has approved the acquisition of Thimm Group plants in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania as of 23 July 2026. That includes all activities in these 4 countries: nine corrugated board plants in Alzey (Germany), Wolnzach (Germany), Eberswalde (Germany), Catrop-Rauxel (Germany), Northeim (Germany), Tychy (Poland), Skarbimierz (Poland), Všetaty (Czech Republic) and Sibiu (Romania) and one preprint in Ilsenburg (Germany).
With this operation, Saica’s production capacity will increase its corrugated cardboard production capacity in 1,200 million square meters. Saica will employ approximately 2,500 people more.

This acquisition allows Saica to continues to fulfill its objective of developing local markets, getting closer to customers and offering them global solutions for all their packaging needs.
