Elopak ASA Board of Directors announced that CEO Thomas Körmendi has decided to step down due to personal reasons tied to his planned relocation to Denmark. The board initiated a search for a new CEO, with Körmendi remaining in his role until a successor is appointed to ensure smooth transition and continuity of the "Repackaging tomorrow" strategy. Strategic direction and priorities stay unchanged. Chair Dag Mejdell praised Körmendi's leadership since 2018 for establishing Elopak as a sustainability leader, strengthening market positions post-2021 IPO, and expanding into end-to-end solutions for fresh, aseptic, and non-food segments. Achievements include acquisitions in MENA and Asia plus a new U.S. production plant, driving top-line growth and profitability. Körmendi called leading Elopak a privilege, noting his new job opportunity and confidence in the leadership team for ongoing success in sustainable packaging alternatives to plastics. Elopak employs 2,850 people, sells 16 billion cartons yearly across 70+ countries, holds UN Global Compact status, pursues 1.5-degree emission targets, aims for Net-Zero by 2050, and earned EcoVadis gold rating.
