Toscotec will supply a new PM15 tissue line to Lucart’s Laval-sur-Vologne mill in France. A repeat order for both the Laval-sur-Vologne site and the Lucart Group, this project further reinforces a strong partnership built over years of delivering single components, major rebuilds, and complete production plants.

This investment marks a new phase for the paper mill, establishing it as a central hub for European markets and driving Lucart’s ongoing business expansion across France. Once fully operational, the installation will elevate the mill’s total annual capacity to 75,000 tonnes of premium tissue paper.

The Project

At the core of the new line is Toscotec’s state-of-the-art AHEAD 1.8 tissue machine. Operating at speeds up to 1,800 m/min with a basis weight range of 15 to 22 g/m², the PM15 will produce high-quality toilet and towel paper.

Thanks to the electrification of its drying process, the new tissue machine is specifically engineered to maximize production efficiency while decreasing carbon emissions. The tissue machine’s drying process combines TT NextPress technology and a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer with high-efficiency TT e-Powered Hoods. These hoods, which are the heart of the process, can operate with conventional gas burners, in 100% electric mode, or in a hybrid configuration. The TT Swing feature allows additional flexibility with the utilization of the heat in the wet-end hood.

This innovative configuration facilitates a progressive transition to low-carbon energy sources. In combination with a new electric steam generator, the tissue machine can operate on 100% electricity, thereby minimizing its overall carbon footprint.

The project is delivered as a turn-key scope of supply that also includes electrification, a new TT Brain control system, and a comprehensive package of services, including full erection.

"Today’s installation of the new PM15 marks a vital step forward: we are investing in production capacity, technology, and energy efficiency all at once, driving our growth in full alignment with our decarbonization journey," states Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart.

"We are proud to support Lucart’s decarbonization goals by delivering an advanced solution designed to optimize performance while setting new benchmarks for energy efficiency," says Alessandro Mennucci, CEO of Toscotec.

This project reinforces the strong strategic partnership between Toscotec and Lucart, demonstrating how advanced engineering can harmonize high-capacity production with environmental responsibility.
