Trident Ltd. has approved a Rs 4,650-crore investment programme to expand its yarn, sheeting and paper manufacturing operations and strengthen its renewable energy capacity. The projects, approved by the company’s board, will be implemented in phases, with completion dates ranging from December 2027 to September 2029.

The largest allocation of Rs 1,660 crore will fund a new yarn manufacturing facility at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, with a proposed capacity of 1,99,680 spindles. The project is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2029. Trident has acquired 179.2 acres of leasehold land for approximately Rs 106.09 crore for the facility.

A further Rs 1,022 crore will be invested in expanding and modernising the existing yarn facility at Budhni, Madhya Pradesh. Scheduled for completion by December 31, 2027, the project will add 99,840 spindles, replace 48,000 older spindles with 70,176 new spindles for finer-count yarn production, and upgrade 960 older rotors with 2,400 new rotors. The Budhni facility currently operates at 94% capacity utilisation.

In the sheeting segment, Trident has allocated Rs 1,018 crore to install 336 additional looms, increasing total capacity from 504 to 840 looms. The expansion is expected to be completed by January 31, 2028. Current capacity utilisation in the business stands at 58%.

The paper division will receive Rs 296 crore to increase production capacity by 28 tonnes per day, taking total capacity from 479 to 507 tonnes per day. Completion is targeted for March 31, 2028. The business currently operates at 81% capacity utilisation.

The remaining Rs 654 crore has been earmarked for a hybrid renewable energy project comprising 60 MW of wind power and 20 MW of solar power on an AC basis. Scheduled for completion by October 31, 2028, the project will complement Trident's existing solar capacity of 57.3 MW DC peak.

Trident's existing yarn manufacturing operations at Sanghera in Punjab and Budhni in Madhya Pradesh have a combined capacity of 7,46,064 spindles, 5,424 rotors and 320 air-jets.
