UPM announced on January 12, 2026, from Helsinki that it has secured leadership-level scores in the 2025 CDP assessment, reinforcing its position in sustainability through environmental efficiency and transparent reporting on climate, forest, and water actions.

The company earned an A rating for Climate Change, A- for Forests, and A- for Water Security. Sami Lundgren, VP of Responsibility at UPM, stated that these scores highlight the company's integrated sustainability approach, with plans to align further with science-based targets using renewable feedstocks, innovation, and sustainability strategies. CDP, the world's leading environmental disclosure system, evaluated over 23,100 entities in 2025 on their management of environmental impacts, focusing on disclosure, awareness, management, and leadership. Scores reflect governance, targets, and actions tied to frameworks like the Paris Agreement, Science Based Targets initiative, and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.

For climate, UPM demonstrated science-based emissions reductions, Scope 1, 2, and material Scope 3 reporting, risk integration, and decarbonization progress. Forests scores covered deforestation-free commitments, supply chain traceability, sustainable management, and governance. Water achievements included basin-level risk assessments, efficiency targets, and governance. Lundgren emphasized UPM's role in providing sustainable alternatives to fossil products, supported by validated data, signaling strong risk management for investors.
