The American Molded Fiber Coalition welcomed the U.S. Department of Commerce's final antidumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) orders on thermoformed molded fiber products from China and Vietnam, published January 27, 2026.
Duties reach up to 540% for certain Chinese producers and 260% for Vietnamese producers, lasting at least five years.
These apply in addition to other tariffs on sustainable single-use items like bowls, clamshells, plates, trays, and food packaging.
Yohai Baisburd, coalition lead counsel, stated: "The publication of the antidumping and countervailing duty orders are an important step in protecting the growing U.S. industry from unfairly traded Chinese and Vietnamese imports."
He added: "The domestic molded fiber packaging industry employs hardworking Americans across the country who will now compete without having to face massive Chinese and Vietnamese government subsidies."
The orders level the playing field against dumped and subsidized imports, enabling reinvestment and job growth.
The coalition will monitor new unfair imports, collaborate on enforcement, and highlight duty evasion penalties.
Members include Genera (Vonore, TN), Tellus Products LLC (Belle Glade, FL), and United Steelworkers Union (Washington, DC).
