Valmet will supply its Valmet IQ Quality Control System for corrugators to Acme Corrugated Box Co., Inc., aiming to enhance board quality and production efficiency at the company’s U.S. operations.

The system is designed to improve overall converting performance by integrating controls for paper temperature, moisture balance, total moisture, and board flatness. It will interface with the plant’s existing corrugator heating elements and incorporate Valmet’s moisture measurement technologies along with an automatic moisturizing solution.

Kevin Landman, Maintenance Manager at Acme Corrugated Box, said moisture control is increasingly critical as equipment speeds rise and paper sourcing diversifies. He noted that the system will enable real-time process control, replacing traditional reactive approaches. The integration with existing controls is also expected to simplify operations by eliminating the need for multiple systems. The company anticipates improvements in board quality and consistency, higher corrugator speeds, increased throughput, and reduced overall waste.

David Maddux, Board Converting Automation Sales Manager at Valmet, stated that the system will support more stable production, consistent product quality, and reduced operator workload through advanced moisture and warp measurement combined with automated control.

The order was included in Valmet’s third-quarter 2025 intake, with the value undisclosed. The system is scheduled for startup in the second quarter of 2026.

The delivery will include Valmet IQ Warp Measurement, Valmet IQ Moisturizer, Valmet IQ Multipoint Moisture, and microwave-based moisture measurement, all integrated with automatic closed-loop controls.
