German machinery group Voith has announced that a strategic review of its global organizational structure could result in the reduction of up to 2,500 positions worldwide, equivalent to roughly 10% of its workforce, with Germany expected to bear a significant share of the cuts. Management says the review is aimed at strengthening long‑term competitiveness, freeing capital for innovation and investments, and streamlining structures after a challenging period marked by high energy and labour costs, complex regulation and growing international competition. The company has not yet specified which sites, divisions or functions will be affected and will now enter consultations with employee representatives, stressing that the objective is to secure the group’s future performance and Germany’s position as an industrial base.
